Life as a Matrix
May 2nd, 2008![]() |
With a voice full of uncertainty, Neo asks, "The Matrix?"
"Do you want to know what it is?" Morpheus inquires very deliberately.
At a nod from Neo, Morpheus continues, "The matrix is everywhere. It is all around us. Even now, in this very room. You can see it when you look out your window or when you turn on your television. You can feel it when you go to work, when you go to church, when you pay your taxes. It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth."
"What truth?" asks Neo.
"That you are a slave, Neo. Like everyone else you were born into bondage, born into a prison that you cannot smell or taste or touch. A prison for your mind.
"Unfortunately, no one can be told what the Matrix is. You have to see it for yourself.
"This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back.
"You take the blue pill. The story ends. You wake up in your bed and believe…whatever you want to believe.
"You take the red pill. You stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.
"Remember. All I'm offering is the truth. Nothing more."
There are a lot of philosophical aspects in this movie which I find very interesting. Not by it's "movie magic" or "actions", just simply, philosophical as The Matrix it self represents our 'mother nature' with its many laws
Here is an example of what happens in our life:
A nice girl with long hair, nice pair of legs and 'boobs' (pardon me girls) would always be called 'sexy and beautiful'. Well that is at least what Hollywood which reflected today's culture, has been brain washing our minds. From more than a 30 years, televisions, magazines shows what "the ideal" is about women.
A quote from Mr. Leonard Nimoy (Spock, Star Trek TOS)from Hossli.com interview :
To a certain extent, Hollywood is to blame. But Hollywood reflects what’s happening in the culture. The culture says a certain kind of woman is beautiful, so Hollywood hires that kind of woman and puts her in movies. Hollywood doesn’t lead. Hollywood follows.
This culture which imprisoned the mind made many women and girls to take a diet and pills following advertisings about the "perfect body" but only a few really succeed and many become ill due the the strong diet and powerful medication they take. So here we can say, that these womens are a slave of their own mind created by culture which is also created by humans.
So what is "beautiful"? is it something you see with your naked eye or is it something you feel inside your self? As this is only 1 topic of many in life as we know it
Who knows? Religions? Politics? Economy and businesses? Our entire life? What happened to us humans? why do we keep on fighting over a religious act or believes and skin color? Is there an error in our program? Or that's just what humans is?
Another philosophical aspect :
The most philosophical aspect that I loved the most about the Matrix is an interpretation of a Japanese poet:
"I am dreaming of a butterfly
or is it the butterfly who is dreaming about me"
How can you be sure 100% that in this moment, reading my post here, are you now awake or are you asleep. Is your life just a dream? and when you died, the dream is over then you are awake?
people who meditate a lot, can answer these questions fast and accurate.
Well if you happen to see this movie again don't watch it for just the fun of it, learn about it, open your mind to an endless possibilities, let your mind and your soul wonder and be creative of what's going on in our world today and maybe.. just maybe you can do something about it ![]()
As Morpheous would say "I can only show you the door. You’re the one that has to walk through it."
There are a lot more philosophy in this movie which I don't think I can write them all here, as some of it maybe unacceptable for some people ![]()
RISK TAKING
April 22nd, 2008To laugh is to risk appearing the fool
To weep is to risk appearing sentimental
To reach out for another is to risk exposing your true self
To place your ideas, dreams before the crowd is to risk their loss
To love is to risk not being loved in return
To live is to risk dying
To hope is to risk despair
To try is to risk failure
But risk must be taken because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing
The person who risks nothing, does nothing, has nothing and is nothing – he may avoid suffering and sorrow but he simply cannot learn, feel, change, grow, love, live.
Chained by his certitudes, he is a slave – he has fortified his freedom
Only a person who risks is free.
This is a Contribution from an "unknown writer" given to me by Mr. Walter Walker
He gave me this writing for me to read and for me to lear and understand the philosophy behind the words.
In live as we know it, there are events that come to us either by accident or on purpose. On an event such as choices to be made, confusion over decision, one is forced to think about the consequences of each of the choices they will make ( or what new choices may emerged ). These consequences are considered to be known as "risk".
Some people will try to choose the lesser risk, while some others are willing to take the greater risk for a better outcome in their lives.
No matter where we go and when we go, there are always be the "risk factor" even when we see no choices, the risk factor will still be there waiting. SO basically those who try to live without any risk will not have a complete "live" as risk it self is a part of being human. Who would want to take a risk for someone who you really love? Who wouldn't risk him self to step forward when an opportunity comes to him that may only be once in his life time? What kind of a mother who does not risk their live when giving birth?
Risk is something that we have to live with until the day we no longer exist as mortals. Now in this world there are no such thing as a "safe game" everything we do, always has a risk, its just a matter of small or big risk but either way they are still called risk.
One who risk their life to save other people is quite noble, but is one who risk their life to earn more in a gambling table also noble? each of those has an emerging risk yet to come. Risk works as "The Physics Law of Cause and Effect" that is one of the most ancient rule in the universe.

If you avoid risk, they will always come to you and never stop. You become somewhat paranoid, live in fear, as the poetry says.. a slave to your own life and your own mind.
If you challenge a risk, you may succeed several times, but eventually break you in time
So I'm not saying that we should avoid them or challenge them, but we have the ability to think and re-think what is best for us, when to take the risk and when to avoid ( find the lesser risk
)
Risk is a part of nature and life, in some word its part of "The Game Rules" aren't we all playing the game as humans?
The old man and the branch
April 21st, 2008This story has been in my family from many generations before, i would like to share this to whoever is reading:
Once upon a time....
There was a very old man lived alone in the woods by the river. The old man likes to collect falling branches for daily work, as he does not have the strength.. to do more than that.
In the evening after dinner,he selected all of the finest branches, choosing one from many. Then he pulled out his knife and start to shape the branch. He wanted the branch to be shaped as he pleases, as to be a beautiful wooden statue
However..
the branch has a heart and a feeling...
the branch was crying.. as it is hurt and pain.. to be shaped by that sharp knife
After a while, the branch could not bare more of the pain..
it breaks...
the old man was very sad.., a tear fall down to the ground. He had high hopes on that branch. Now he have to select another branch and do the work all over again.
The second choice was a thick branch and strong by the looks of it. The old man than uses his knife again and started to shape the strong branch
for a long moment... things are looking good, happiness starts to fill the heart of the old man. However at that moment, the strong branch could not find any strength left within the branch, it too has a feeling and for the branch, eventually it was too painful.
when the knife strike for the final shape...
the branch breaks..
Again tears of the old man along with his sweat fall down to the earth. The old man tells to him self with sadness...
"is there no branch that i can shape to my wish?"
The old man was not ready to give up
he took another branch, randomly
then started to shape it again..
this one is different
it was following the will of the old man
but the old man can also hear as if the branch was crying very loud in pain and suffers
The old man wonders... "why is this branch still not broken?"
Deep in the old man's thought he said,"it doesnt look strong but.. it is not breaking".
The old man then stops for a while and whisper to the branch ,"be strong for me, as it is for your own good"
Then after a long hours of working..it was near dawn.
The branch was no longer a branch anymore
it is now a statue, a beautiful one.
Then the old man slowly put the statue on the top of his favourite cupboard in front of his bed, where he can always watch it.
The old man said to him self while watching the statue with another tear falling to the ground. The tear of joy.
"I am very proud of you, I am proud of My creation.."

For The Depressed
April 21st, 2008FOR THE DEPRESSED
hey world..
look at me..
even when burned...
i do not burn
even when drowned...
i do not drown
even when my neck is stranggled...
i do not run out of air
even if i am killed...
i will not die
when the sun is at east
i exist
when the sun is at the west
i still exist
when the sun no longer exist
i still exist
when the moonlight shine or not
i always exist
hey world
i remain to stand still here
you may try to crumble me
as i will not move
any kind of storm
cannot change my position
i will not die
as long as You are my lover
i will fear nothing
as long as You are my father
i will not have doubts
as long as You are my mother
as for whatever it is that You have written for me
it must be a very wonderful story
hey world
my body will die
my life is uncertain
but the most certain i know
my soul is eternal
